Create Your Own Artwork with Angelia Leal on June 29
The Resident Artist in Silver City is delighted to announce that Angelia Leal will be one of the Program’s three summer visiting artists.
A mixed media and digital artist with a degree in painting from Mendocino College, Leal is now pursuing a Masters in Art Therapy at the University of Nevada, Reno. She writes, “I have spent the last several years traveling throughout Oregon, California and Nevada and have been deeply inspired by breathtaking landscapes. I have attempted to capture them through drawing, painting and digital photography. Spending time in nature, sleeping outside, drawing and painting are the ways that I deal with stress in my day to day life. I hope that my visit here will inspire you to create with whatever materials you have on hand.”
Leal will offer an art class for adults and children ages ten and up on Tuesday, June 29. She invites attendees to join her for a “very fun morning of creating artworks in mixed media,” and asks them to “bring a surface to create your artwork on that is either paper, wood, metal, plastic, mylar, or something recycled.”
She will provide some surface materials to choose from as well. To create their own artwork to take home, class participants can use paint, pencil, dirt, eggs, and ink that will be provided.
To attend the free class, RSVP to Resident Artist Program director Quest Lakes at quest@theodata.com for the time and location.
This event is sponsored by the Resident Artist Program in Silver City in partnership with Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties.
The Resident Artist Program’s other summer 2021 visiting artists include Mylo McCormick, who provided music in the local park on June 22, and permaculture designer Canyon Cassidy, who will lead a tour of a local permaculture project on July 6.
