Chautauqua presentation of Donner Party survivors James and Margret Reed at Gold Hill Hotel June 1
This Thursday June 1 at 7:00PM, the historic Gold Hill Hotel continues its history series with a Chautauqua (living history) presentation of James and Margret Reed, brave and heroic survivors of the forlorn 1846 Donner Party, that brought their four children and dozens of other safely through this tragic event.
Rooming house, private residence, bar, brothel, periods of non-use-for 162 years, the historic Gold Hill Hotel has steadfastly survived and is still providing exceptional hospitality to locals and visitors alike on the Comstock. Today, it is a full-service rooming, dining and drinking establishment, and proudly claims the title as the oldest hotel in the state of Nevada.
The Chautauqua presentation starts at 7:00 p.m. and costs $10 per person. And why not make a “night of it”…and come early and enjoy dinner before the history presentation!
Reservations for the Chautauqua and for dinner can be made on the following link https://goldhillhotel.net/event/lecture-series-continues-donner-party/ or call 775 844-0111 for more information.
