Carson and Douglas sheriff departments distribute FBI fraud alert
With the surge of Internet and phone scams, it's critical that all be vigilant when anyone contacts you with a deal that sounds too good to be true, is threatening legal action and demanding money, tells you to buy prepaid gift cards (iTunes, Visa, Mastercard, etc), someone posing as Microsoft, Yahoo, or other Internet company telling you that you're computer is infected and want to charge to clean it up remotely, or wire or transfer money from your bank account.
At DeBug Computer, we've seen a dramatic increase in the number of people in our community being scammed out of large amounts of money, especially our senior citizens.
If you think you're an intended victim of a scam, hang up the phone or turn off your computer, and get help. You can report these events directly to the FBI at www.ic3.gov. Please feel free to contact DeBug Computer at 775-883-3630 if you have any questions or need help.
