CHS senior Zachary Carpenter earns Capital City Community Band Richard Doede Scholarship
The Capital City Community Band awarded its Carson City Community, Richard Doede Scholarship to Zach Carpenter at its Salute To Young Musicians concert on Sunday.
The scholarship was established to honor a young member of the band who is a senior in high school, has participated in the band, and plans to keep music in their future.
The board of directors named the scholarship in honor of the band’s founding director Richard Doede.
The Carson City teen has been a member of the CCCB for four years playing tuba and trombone He also participates in the Carson High School Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Marching Band and Winter Drum Line. He plans to attend UNR and hopes to become an optometrist, while keeping music in his life forever.
