Spring's first buds, Gardnerville Ranchos
Spring blooms are always uplifting for me. Especially this year. Our harsh winter has kept folks inside way too often. That is, unless we were shoveling snow.
When we moved into our home in the Ranchos, we found that the people who lived here before us had planted a half dozen tulips in our walkway bed. Come Spring, they really cheered me up. After the second year, I decided to add to them: A few dozen tulips and daffodils.
They were a wonderful surprise that Spring. Every year now, I've continued making more flowerbeds and planting more bulbs. Now, my front garden has over 6,000 tulip, daffodil, crocus and hyacinth bulbs.
I leave them in the ground year round. I was worried that they wouldn't do as well after all the snow and single digit temperatures.
Gardening is equal amounts of skill, patience, experience, plain luck, as well as trial and error. Working in the garden is calming for me and excellent exercise. I love sharing my bit of cheer with our neighbors.
Happy Spring!
