Saliman Road Walking Path Beautification Project begins Saturday
The Foundation for Carson City Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce its newest project, the Saliman Road Walking Path Beautification Project. The project, led by Mike and Mary Kaye Raponi, is undertaken with the support of the Carson City’s Public Works and Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Departments.
The project aims to clean-up and improve the landscape along a popular, dog-friendly walking path and add two park benches to improve access and use of the pathway. The quarter mile long walking path is located along the west side of Saliman Road just south of Seeliger Elementary School.
This community-based effort to beautify a well-used walking path involves two phases: Phase one, scheduled for this Saturday, March 19th, from 9:00am to 1:00pm, will be a clean-up effort. Volunteers for the clean-up are asked to meet at 9:00am. Anyone interested in participating in this project are welcome. The group will undertake a general clean-up of the pathway which will focus on the removal of the old torn and deteriorated landscape fabric that litters the walking path.
Phase two is a fund-raising effort to finance the two park benches. The estimate cost for the benches, including installation is estimated to be in the neighborhood of $4,000.
Donations for the benches can be made to the Foundation for Carson City Parks and Recreation and ear-marked for the “Saliman Pathway Project.” Donations received by the Foundation, a 501(c)3, not-for-profit organization, are tax deductible. Checks should be made payable to FCCPR and mailed to FCCPR, PO Box 3266, Carson City, NV 89702-3266.
