Regarding mayor’s
State of the City Address
At the luncheon sitting upfront at the best table in the room was none other than the Southwest Gas Company, who helped fund the luncheon. Bagwell has also received MONEY from Southwest Gas for her political campaign. To those thousands of citizens who are struggling to pay their monthly gas bill, only to discover that Bagwell is taking your money to fund her political campaign, is deeply offensive. She should not take money from any public services that collects fees from citizens and then use this money for her own political gain. Open and transparent is not Bagwell’s demeanor.
Just like major league baseball's new uniforms one can clearly see through the pants they wear; this same transparency applies to the mayor’s State of City Address. What the mayor read at the luncheon from her cue cards came directly from the city department themselves.
Bagwell never made one statement, not one whatsoever at the luncheon as to what she hopes to accomplish in 2024 for the citizens of Carson City. Nothing, zero, zilch, not a dang thing.
Bagwell highlighted Colorado Street repair. As usual she failed to mention the downside of this as she does on all subject matters, which was the major flood damage that occurred during construction. The city had to reimburse homeowners thousands of dollars due to this damage.
At the luncheon another of Bagwell’s failures was that she did not mention the $21,000,000.00 deficit in the city budget for street repair that had occurred on her watch. Under Bagwell’s leadership the Board of Supervisors is considering imposing a General Improvement District (GID) which will only add additional taxes to citizens properties, and the Board does not need voters’ approval to do this. This new tax will never ever pay this debt off. Won’t happen, no way, no how.
Bagwell had previously stated: “that there was a buyer for the Ormsby House”. One would believe she would have been excited to provide an update to this, nope did not happen, never will.
In closing - the big question about Bagwell’s re-election campaign of 2024 is – will she inform citizens she cannot serve the entire four term that she is seeking. As Bagwell will be termed out in 2027 and must surrender the mayors’ position to the mayor pro tem.
