Wild Horse Children’s Theater Wins Big at Junior Theater Festival 2023

February 18, 2023 (All day) Bravo! Wild Horse Children’s Theater (WHCT) Junior Theater Festival Performance Troupe recently brought home top honors at the Junior Theater Festival West (JTF) in Sacramento, CA.
The group traveled to Sacramento, CA for the annual 2023 Junior Theater Festival West in February. There they performed 15 minutes of an MTI Broadway Junior musical, and the group’s production of “Seussical, Jr.”
earned them a Freddie G Excellence in Music award.
Among those from WHCT who also received individual accolades recognizing their outstanding talent and hard work were, Anuhea Azevedo, Freddie G Outstanding Individual Performance award and JTF Festival All-Star, Kai Moore, JTF Festival All-Star, and Brooklyn Remington, Kai Moore, and Olivia Briggs who made it to the call-backs to a yet-to-be announced special video project being held in New York this summer. Director, Carol Scott, was honored with the Freddie G Fellowship 2023 and will be flown to NYC this summer with 4 other outstanding theater educators from across the country for one-on-one development sessions with Broadway professionals.
Adjudicator, John Prignano, MTI COO & Director of Education and Development; said, "From the moment Anuhea Azevedo stepped on to the stage as the Cat in The Hat, the entire cast had the audience's attention. It was a true ensemble presentation; each actor knew the part they played in the show, and they gave us focused and energized performances."
Executive Director Carol Scott said, “JTF 2023 was a spectacular weekend full of amazing people, incredibly inspiring, thoughtful, talented kids, and some wonderful memories! And WHCT got to top it all off with prestigious awards for the 6th year running! I am absolutely honored to work with such an amazing team and such talented young actors! They are all incredibly special!”
The Junior Theater Festival West is a three-day annual convention that gives students in musical theater the opportunity to shine in the spotlight and find their voice with a weekend of workshops, performances, and showcases.
WHCT is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing opportunities for young people to learn and grow in the performing arts in a supportive and nurturing environment. Through their various programs and productions, the organization aims to educate and inspire youth, fostering a love for theater and helping them develop skills that will benefit them both on and off stage.
