Mike Reynolds named RSVP'S Mobility Manager in Carson City
The Nevada Rural Counties Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Inc. (RSVP) has appointed Mike Reynolds as the Carson City and Regional Mobility Manager. Lack of transportation has been identified as the greatest deterrent to accessing lifesaving goods and services for homebound, low income, frail seniors and disabled persons.
According to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009: Opportunities for Public Transit and Mobility Management by ESPA (2010): “Mobility managers provide the connection between community partners and transportation providers. They disseminate information on what transportation services are available, collaborate with workforce development and human service professionals about their customers’ and clients’ needs, facilitate travel training and orientation for individuals, and feed data on unmet needs into the transportation planning process.”
“I am truly excited and honored to be RSVP’s Mobility Manager” says Mike Reynolds. “I am committed to developing a consolidated transportation program for low-income and disabled adults in Carson City, Storey, Mineral and Douglas Counties as well as working with all northern Nevada transportation programs to streamline transportation. My goal is to identify unmet transportation needs in the region, forge solutions, and to maximize the resources that we have.”
“Mr. Reynolds has many years of public service and volunteer experience. As a retired military officer and former Aviation Battalion Commander, he has a proven track record of exemplary leadership and logistics expertise” says Susan Haas, Executive Director of RSVP.
She adds that “Funds for the Mobility Manager(s) come from a grant from the State of Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) and in partnership with the Nevada Division for Aging and Disability Services (ADSD). The grant also includes funding for a Mobility Manager in Pahrump where RSVP is currently seeking qualified candidates to assume the role of Mobility Manager.”
