Carson City's Thurman's Ranch House cleared out
After training exercises last month by the Carson City Fire Department, the old Thurman Ranch House, a family and basque style steak house that closed in 2013, is being cleared out.
The building has been unoccupied since closing. Last month the Carson City Fire Department used it for fire training purposes.
The owners of the property, Tim and Joyce Smith, agreed to have the buildings taken down on the property, which is 0.76 acres, according to the property's Real Estate Agent Bruce Robertson.
"The buildings on the property were old and needed new roofs. There were a number of issues so the owners decided to have an environmental study done on the buildings," said Robertson. "It was decided that the best thing to do was to have the buildings torn down because they were in poor shape. To put them back into use would have taken a lot of money."
Other than those interested in wanting to lease the building as a restaurant, others have expressed interest in redeveloping the property, Robertson said. Those interested in buying the property can call Robertson at 721-7904.
