Food Bank of Northern Nevada is asking for the community’s support on Saturday, May 11 as it joins the National Association of Letter Carriers for the Stamp Out Hunger food drive.

The annual Mother’s Day Plant Sale is back May 11 at the Greenhouse Project in Carson City, located behind Carson High School at 1111 Saliman Road.

Participants will be able to select a number of nursery plants ranging from vegetables and fruits to landscape plants, all grown specifically to adhere to our high desert climate.

Each year, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office hosts an open house event as a way to connect families, deputies, non-profits and more. This year the event takes place Saturday, May 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The wait is finally over. The second annual Mark Twain Days Festival returns to Carson City and Virginia City this weekend! Enjoy themed train rides, concerts, literature, book sales, kid's stories, and so much more all throughout the capital city and Virginia City.

Join us May 11th from 6-10 pm to rock with one of our local favorites, Lady An the Tramps! They will be rocking the house with a mix of oldies, country, rock, blues, and disco! They will get you moving and grooving to their tunes out on the dance floor! Moms are not required to attend, but are admired anyways! That said, bring a person you call mom!

DJ Trivia is every Monday at the Homegrown Bar. Check in is at 7PM and the game starts at 7:30 PM! Join us for some friendly competition, good food, and drinks while earning points and win prizes.

In a systematic approach to improve water quality, Lyon County Utilities will be conducting water main flushing Tuesday and Wednesday, May 14-15 in the Rose Peak area (roughly between Flowery Avenue and Sheep Camp Road) in Dayton, Nev.

Forty students from Carson, Dayton, Douglas, and Whittell high schools have their work in the "Spring Forward 2024" art exhibition at the Brick. This delightful exhibit presents an array of imaginative projects based on students’ years of classroom study and their amazing craftsmanship.

Clear Creek Bowmen will be hosting Tuesday Night Shoots from now until August at the Carson City Archery Range, located (just East of Eagle Valley Golf Course.

In this class you’ll learn about problem-solving through art, as well as how to draw with instructor Kaleb Wyckoff. Whether you can sketch a stick figure or a portrait, this class is for you! All skill levels are welcome. Every class is different and designed to strive for accessibility. Classes take place every other week and focus on stand alone lessons, meaning you can join at anytime without being behind.

Miller Counseling is partnering with Douglas Center for Hope and Healing to offer grief support groups to Carson City and the surrounding rural communities Wednesdays from 7 to 8 p.m.

The Miller Counseling and Wellness Center is located at 104 W. Telegraph St. in Carson City.

The Center for Hope and Healing has been providing grief support to Douglas County for the last 10 years. The goal of building this partnership is to make the free support groups available and easier to access to more members of the Northern Nevada community.

The Carson City Democratics has announced open office hours from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. seven days a week through Nov. 6. The office is located at 502 E. John St. Suite G.

A Candidate Forum for the Justice of the Peace Candidates will be held May 15th from 6:00-7:30 pm at the Carson Nugget, Sierra Room at 507 N. Carson Street. Please join us to learn about the Candidates: Melanie Bruketta, Tyson League and Daniel Spence; and how they plan to serve Carson City! Dr. Kyle Dalpe, President of Western Nevada College will be the moderator. There is no cost for this event and it is open to the public.
