The Carson City Interfaith Group will be hosting a community blood drive Saturday, July 10, 2021. The blood drive will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 411 N. Saliman Road in Carson City, just south of Carson High School.

CARSON CITY — The ripple effects of Covid continue to strain the supply of lifesaving plasma even though it seems as if we’ve weathered the worst of the pandemic. CARSON CITY — Young people between 14 and 26 years old, who are currently or were previously in foster care in any state, are eligible for time-limited COVID-19 pandemic relief funds. The federal Consolidated Appropriation Act was signed into law on December 27, 2020 and provides additional funds and flexibilities for young people living in Nevada. The State has been awarded about $4 million in John H. Chafee Foster Care Program funds to be distributed to individuals throughout the state.

Spinal stenosis is a very common, but potentially debilitating, condition. Stenosis is a generic medical term for narrowing. Stenosis in your heart's blood vessels can lead to a heart attack. Stenosis in your esophagus can lead to choking, in addition to other instances in the human body. Spinal stenosis occurs when your spinal canal narrows and puts pressure on the nerves which travel through the spine, resulting in back and leg pain, numbness or tingling.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting the first case of Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome in Douglas County. The individual is a Douglas County resident who was exposed to the virus while spring cleaning. Due to medical privacy, no additional information about the case will be released.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control announced on its website Thursday that it is recommending that those who are fully vaccinated can resume regular activities prior to the COVID-19 pandemic without having to wear a mask.

CVS Health announced May 5 that it is now accepting walk-in COVID-19 appointments at CVS Pharmacy locations across the country, including over 90 locations in Nevada, including Carson City, with no appointment necessary.
