Carson City area weather: Clouds, sunshine and potential for wetter systems on the horizon

The first day of November around the Carson City region will bring widespread clouds and cooling to the area with a slight chance of light showers resulting from a weak system, according to the National Weather Service. The weather pattern is looking more active next week with increased chances for wetter storm systems.

Greater Nevada contributes $10K to Tahoe Prosperity Center’s ‘Tahoe Together Caldor Fire Relief’ fund

November 1, 2021 (All day) Greater Nevada Credit Union has contributed $10,000 to the Tahoe Prosperity Center’s Tahoe Together Caldor Fire Relief Fund, bringing the fund’s total contributions to over $53,000. The funds will be distributed to food and beverage employees in the Tahoe region recently impacted by the fire.
NHP Northern Command West receives grant to participate in regional school safety program

This grant supports the Washoe County School District and its public safety program during the 2021-2022 school year.

The Nevada State Museum will host a Day of the Dead Celebration this weekend from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6. As part of the event and celebration, Art students form Carson High School, Pioneer Academy and parents from Empire Elementary School will exhibit Dia De Los Muertos altars.

So, are we going to save ourselves or press the snooze button? I read an article in the New York Times by Damien Cave that gave me a shiver of renewable hope that there might be a mere mortal out there who could actually, should prayer fail, save us.
Amodei will pass on Nevada gubernatorial run, will seek re-election to congressional seat

Rep. Mark Amodei said he won't run for governor, citing an already crowded primary race he believes will be very negative and likely hobble the Republican candidate in the general election with the nonpartisans needed to win.
