Nevada Rural RSVP responds to COVID-19 with help for seniors in 14 counties, Carson City

The Nevada Rural Counties RSVP Program (RSVP) has taken proactive steps and the necessary precautions to respond to the COVID-19 (novel Coronavirus) outbreak and support communities across its 15-county service region including Carson City. The most vulnerable among us rely on RSVP’s volunteer services. Given the increased risks for those we serve such as elders, veterans and adults with a disability, RSVP is limiting interaction between its volunteers and clients by shifting programs to meet the emergent needs of care recipients.

Remote learning across Carson City School District schools approved

This past weekend, Gov. Sisolak and state authorities provided updates and clarifications regarding statewide school closures amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Among the top of the list most impacting students and families in Carson City were four points: 1) all testing has been waived, 2) schools will not reopen prior to April 16, 3) all school employees are deemed to be “essential” and 4) the Nevada Department of Education has approved the request for Emergency Program of Distance Education from the Carson City School District.
