On Tuesday, MAX Casino in Carson City held its inaugural Hot Dog Eating Championship in honor of the Fourth of July.

Six contestants were randomly selected to participate in the contest. Individuals had to sign up as MAX rewards members and were placed into a lottery.

Members of the audience were also encouraged to place bets on the contestants through guest services.

The winner of the contest took home $500, and the runner up won $100.

Contestants were tasked with eating 10 hotdogs in 10 minutes.

The winner, Erik Flores, was able to eat 8 hot dogs in 10 minutes.

The runner up, Greg Watts, was able to eat 6 hot dogs in 10 minutes.

The other contestants were Tim Walker, Charles Howe, Karl Bartholomew and Sandra Tieffer.
