On Sunday, May 8, 2022, at approximately 2:31 a.m., Troopers with the Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol Division, responded to reports of a fatal single vehicle rollover crash that occurred on US-395 in the area of Douglas County Mile Marker 7 south of Gardnerville.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a Blue 2001 Ford Explorer SUV was traveling north on US-395 near Douglas County Mile Marker 7. For unknown reasons, the Ford crossed over the centerline and left the roadway to the left. The vehicle struck several objects including a barbed-wire fence and several trees and bushes. The vehicle overturned.
The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. Speed is a possible factor in this crash.
The driver of the Ford, Jason Clarkson, a 43-year-old Minden resident, succumbed to his injuries from the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
This crash is being investigated by the Highway Patrol Division’s Northern Command West Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (M.I.R.T.) – Case #220500478.
