Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak took to social media Monday morning, saying Nevada will join California, Colorado, Oregon and Washington in the Western States Pact to curb the spread of COVID-19 and re-open businesses shut down due to the virus.

“I believe sharing information and best practices on how to mitigate the spread, protect the health and safety of our residents and reopen responsibly will be invaluable,” Sisolak wrote on his Facebook page.

“We share three major principles in this agreement. No 1: The health and safety of residents comes first. No. 2: Health outcomes and science — not politics — will guide decision making. And No. 3: Our states will only be effective when working together against #COVID19,” the statement reads.

“With that in mind, there are four main goals. No. 1: Protect the vulnerable. No. 2: Ensure care for the sick. No. 3: Mitigate the non-direct impacts on our communities. No. 4: Protect the public by ensuring a lifting of restrictions include a system to test, track and isolate,” the statement says.

“Millions of visitors from our fellow Western states travel to Nevada every year and this partnership will be vital to our immediate recovery and long-term economic comeback,” writes Sisolak. “I look forward to continued conversations with California Governor Governor Kate Brown, Governor Jay Inslee and Governor Jared Polis.”
