Student-athletes from Carson Middle and Eagle Valley Middle Schools delivered outstanding performances at the most recent Tah-Neva League Championships, earning top finishes, trophies, medals and plenty of smiles.
The Carson Middle School (CMS) eighth-grade girls basketball team went undefeated this season and won the league championship, overpowering Carson Valley Middle School in the title game. The team reached the championship game for the third consecutive season, winning titles as sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders. For the past three seasons, the team has only lost one game, which occurred last year on Oct. 2, 2025.
The CMS sixth- and seventh-grade girls basketball team also earned second-place overall in the Tah-Neva Championship, being edged out by Carson Valley Middle School. They finished second in the League and second in the tournament. Their league record was 9-1, and their overall record was 11-2.
Meanwhile, cross-country runners competed at the Tah-Neva League cross-country championships at Kahle Park in South Lake Tahoe. The Eagle Valley Middle School (EVMS) eighth-grade boys cross-country team took third place overall, with Max Chagoya placing 9th and Luca Capitani placing 16th. Rounding out the team’s performance were Aaidyn McIntosh, Simon Jarvis, Logan Hall and Ryker Lentz.
For CMS, despite not having enough runners eligible to compete in the league championships, both sixth- and seventh-grade boys and girls cross-country teams placed first in the open categories. Brookes Baumgartner, sixth grade, placed 10th overall. Similarly, CMS eighth-grade girls did not have enough runners to score, but Eleanor Baird placed 7th overall in the league.
