The Capital City Community Band, under the direction of Nick Jacques, invites the community to celebrate Nevada Day with its annual concert immediately following the Nevada Day Parade on Saturday, October 31, 2026. The free, family-friendly concert will take place at the Legislative Amphitheater on the grounds of the Nevada State Capitol in downtown Carson City.

This year’s concert celebrates 48 years of the band sharing music with the community while honoring the nation’s 250 years of history and heritage through music.

Concertgoers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or spread out a blanket on the lawn beneath the trees of the Capitol grounds and enjoy an afternoon of music in a relaxed, family-friendly setting. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome.

Founded in 1978 by Richard Doede, the Capital City Community Band was established to provide adult musicians with an opportunity to perform and share their love of music. Today, the band’s members range in age from 16 to 85 and bring a wide variety of musical backgrounds and experiences. Some members performed in high school, college, or professionally, while others began playing as adults.

The band is united by a shared passion for music and community service. All musicians, including the director, volunteer their time and perform without monetary compensation.

The Capital City Community Band welcomes new members who are interested in performing with the group. Musicians seeking more information about joining the band are encouraged to contact Director Nick Jacques at njacques@carson.k12.nv.us.
