Jen Harlan and representatives of FoodMaxx and the Northern Nevada Dream Center celebrate a $1,000 donation supporting the Dream Center's Reach the Hungry program.

A longtime partnership dedicated to fighting hunger in Northern Nevada received a special boost thanks to the generosity of a local FoodMaxx manager.

Jen Harlan, manager of the Carson City FoodMaxx, was honored with the 2025 Building the Community Award at this year’s The Save Mart Companies (TSMC) Gala. As part of the recognition, Harlan was given the opportunity to selectaa nonprofit organization to receive a $1,000 donation. Her choice was the Northern Nevada Dream Center.

Harlan and the Carson City FoodMaxx team have been longtime partners of the Dream Center, supporting its Reach the Hungry program, which provides groceries, fresh produce, and essential food assistance to nearly 2,000 neighbors each month throughout Carson City and surrounding rural communities.

Through its food pantry, mobile food trucks, and home delivery services, the Dream Center works to ensure that families, seniors, and individuals facing food insecurity have access to nutritious food and the support they need.

“Jen has been such a wonderful friend to the Dream Center and the families we serve,” said Susan Sorenson, Founder and Executive Director of the Northern Nevada Dream Center. “Her heart for this community goes far beyond her role at FoodMaxx. We are so proud to see her recognized for the difference she makes, and incredibly grateful that she chose to share this honor with us.”

The $1,000 donation will directly support the Dream Center’s ongoing efforts to fight food insecurity and bring hope and relief to neighbors throughout Northern Nevada.

The Northern Nevada Dream Center extends its heartfelt congratulations to Harlan on this well-deserved recognition and thanks The Save Mart Companies for encouraging its employees to make a meaningful difference in the communities they serve.
