Carson City Fire Department and sheriff’s deputies responded late Saturday morning to a single vehicle accident that apparently happened following a brief pursuit by a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper.

The wreck was reported just after 11:30 a.m. First responders on scene said the vehicle had moderate to heavy damage. Dispatch advised the driver reportedly was bleeding from the nose and was out of the vehicle. He was taken to the hospital and was followed by a Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputy.

Details remain unclear at this time, but there had been an alert for the vehicle prior to the single vehicle wreck. According to dispatch, NHP had attempted to stop the speeding vehicle, going up to 100 mph, but the vehicle failed to yield. The wrecked vehicle with the driver was later located by a passerby who called it into dispatch.

We will update as information becomes available.
