The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is releasing additional information regarding the shooting that occurred on January 7, 2026, in the parking lot in front of Steve’s Homemade Ice Cream, located in the Fernley Village Marketplace.
The suspect has been identified as Cameron Bryce Kessler, a 35-year-old resident of Fernley, Nevada.
Kessler was arrested at the scene without further incident and later booked into the Lyon County Jail on the following charges:
- Attempted Murder
- Battery with a Deadly Weapon
- Discharging a Firearm in Public
Kessler’s total bail has been set at $80,640.00.
At this time, no known motive has been identified. The investigation remains ongoing.
The victim remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition and is expected to survive at this time.
There is no ongoing threat to the public.
This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available and appropriate.
