As the flu season approaches and respiratory illnesses proliferate, Carson City Health and Human Services is working with the Carson City School District to ensure the health and safety of students, families and employees by taking proactive steps to protect those at risk.
Next week, Tuesday, Sept. 30, Wednesday, Oct. 1, and the following week, Tuesday, Oct. 7, a number of flu vaccination events will be held at schools for qualifying children and families free of charge. See dates, times and locations on the attached flyer. The flu vaccine will be available to students and employees who submit the completed consent form (also attached).

CCHHS will bill most insurances. If individuals do not have insurance or are underinsured, they may get a flu shot for $20. However, nobody will be turned away if they are unable to pay. For more information, please call 775-887-2190 or email QuadPHP@carson.org.

As an added measure, the district is promoting proper handwashing and providing hand sanitizer stations throughout the schools to encourage good hygiene practices. Schools will also provide ongoing education to students, staff and families about the importance of respiratory illness prevention, symptoms to watch for and steps to take if someone becomes ill.
