On Sunday, August 31, 2025, at approximately 4:47 p.m., Lyon County Dispatch received a 911 call from a female subject, who advised a male subject, later identified as Albert Buher, was screaming at her, took her camp fuel, threatened to burn her camp down and attacked her. The reporting party advised Buyer eventually left her camp and returned to his camp.

Lyon County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the campsite, located near a water tower above Cemetery Road in Dayton, Nev. As deputies responded, the reporting party called dispatch again, advising there was a trailer possibly on fire. From Highway 50, responding deputies observed black smoke coming from the area of the campsite.

Upon arrival, Deputies met with multiple witnesses, who advised they observed Buher place fuel on his trailer, and observed a fire start shortly after. There were numerous other trailers and vehicles in the immediate area, which also caught fire, resulting in a total loss of many of them. Deputies also learned that Buher had battered two different individuals and made threats to kill them.

Witnessed advised Buher had fled from the campsite prior to law enforcement’s arrival. Deputies searched the area for Buher, who was later located at a local Dayton business and taken into custody without incident.

Buher was subsequently booked into the Lyon County Jail on the following charges:

  • –  Attempted Murder (Felony)
  • –  1st Degree Arson (7 Counts) (Felony)
  • –  3rd Degree Arson (5 Counts) (Felony)
  • –  Domestic Battery (3rd offense within seven years) (With intent to Kill) (Felony)
  • –  Reckless Endangerment (Gross Misdemeanor)
  • –  Harassment (2 Counts) (Misdemeanor)
  • –  Simple Battery (Misdemeanor)
  • TOTAL BAIL: $485,920.
