Donald “Don” Lee Rydel
August 4, 1946 – July 13, 2025
With heavy hearts and fond memories, we announce the passing of Donald “Don” Lee Rydel on July 13, 2025, at the age of 78. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, veteran, storyteller, and friend — Don brought warmth, wit, and laughter to every room he entered.
Born and raised in California, Don proudly served his country in the United States Navy before building a life centered around family, hard work, and community. He was the longtime owner of Rydel Vacuums, where he didn’t just sell and repair vacuums — he built connections. Customers came for service but stayed for Don’s charm, humor, and unforgettable stories. He had a gift for turning the everyday into something special.
Don was happiest surrounded by the people he loved. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sandy, and their five children: Gary, Brenda, Jason, Todd, and Bud. He also leaves behind grandchildren and a great-grandchild who brought him joy and pride in his final months. To his family, Don was a rock — always ready with a joke, a game of cribbage, or a comforting word. Don spent many years in spiritual endeavors too, and enjoyed helping people in the congregation. Many knew him to be a kind and hospitable friend.
Whether seated around a card table with friends or sharing a funny tale over dinner, Don brought light and laughter to every moment. His favorite saying — “Life is short, have fun”—wasn’t just advice; it was the way he lived.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
