Capital City Brewfest — an annual celebration featuring fun and games, delicious foods from multiple food trucks of choice and libations of any kind — comes to downtown Carson City on Saturday, May 31.
The downtown favorite event, hosted by Rotary Club of Carson City, bring together upward of 20 brewers and other libation vendors, plus four food trucks to Curry Street and McFadden Plaza.
“We want to bring Carson City a fun event,” said Peter Fishburn, current president of the Rotary service club, which brings together the vendors and provides activities for those joining in.
Rotarians and sponsoring organizations throw the ongoing event annually to help fund scholarships, youth leadership programs and other services their club provides for the community.
Mayor Lori Bagwell, also a member of the Rotary Club of Carson City, calls this a premium event involving the community’s downtown centerpiece plaza just west of Nevada’s state government campus.
Folks congregate, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., and enjoy brews, wine, and/or spirits from an area distiller, along with mobile food fare, community conviviality and the activities.
Folks will hear music, both oldies and newbies, offered up by a live disc jockey as they pair food of preference with drink of choice.
Participants can get a pic snapped at a photo booth, await potential raffle winnings such as golf gear, libation vibrations, or others. Or they can display their skills (once again, oldie or newbie) at cornhole toss.
This year’s Brewfest includes cornhole toss warmup-for-free and more serious competitions.
The practice games are free, but included is the prospect — after putting a ten spot down – of a chance at a $500 prize for winning throws from the best competitor.
The Rotary club offers early tickets at $35 from Rotarians or $40 online at capitalcitybrewfest.com. The day of the event, tickets are $45.
Local Rotarians, wearing casual garb of their international organization, will be on hand to join in the fun and lend a hand as needed during the afternoon and evening.
