The Pete Livermore Sports Complex in Carson City recently had new signage installed to help direct traffic and assist pedestrians at the heavily used sporting venue.  The signage includes three large marquee signs that map out the baseball and soccer fields, along with smaller directional signs in the parking lots and gate entrances directing users to specific fields.

The project to install the signs was months in the making and is the result of a partnership between the Foundation for Carson City Parks and Recreation and the City’s Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department. The Foundation purchased the signage and the city has been responsible for the mapping, designing, and installation of the signs.

The origination of the funds dates back several years.  In 2018, the Comstock Sports Organization gifted the Foundation $39,000 upon its dissolution.  The funds were raised from local soccer tournaments, mostly from the annual Comstock Soccer Tournament, a large and popular regional soccer tournament held every spring.  Initially, the funds were raised to assist city planning to add a secondary roadway to enter and exit the complex.  When that project did not materialize, the funds were dedicated to other improvements to benefit youth sports.

Eric Ingbar, the former president of the CSO, said “The entire purpose of the Comstock Sports Organization was to support youth sports involvement in our community, especially soccer but all sports generally.  Our goal in donating these funds to the Foundation was to continue that purpose.  These improvements will help all users of the Livermore Complex and show visitors and residents our community’s pride in, and care for, our wonderful sports complex.”

The Foundation for Carson City Parks and Recreation will continue to work closely with the city to use remaining funds from the Comstock Sports Organization donation to further benefit youth sports at the Complex.  Additional projects under consideration include a water-fill station and replacement of worn benches, among other needs.
