Carson High School was placed on a “secure” Thursday morning due to a parking lot disturbance involving airsoft guns.

An update on the arrest is provided here.

A secure is a step beneath a lockdown. During a secure, students are trained to return to the inside of the building and continue business as usual, while adults and staff are trained to bring everyone indoors, lock outside doors, account for students and adults, and increase situational awareness.

Carson Now initially reported students were on a lockdown which was incorrect.

There is no danger at this time according to the district:

“The high school was placed on ‘Secure’ briefly this morning for a disturbance in the parking lot,” said Dan Davis, district PIO. “The secure protocol has already been lifted. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office will be releasing more details related to the incident as soon as they complete their investigation.”

Sheriff Ken Furlong said two students brought air softguns to school which caused the incident.

He said both are detained and there was and is no danger to students.

Updates to follow as they become available.
