Strong winds will develop late tonight and continue through Thursday afternoon prompting a High Wind Watch, according to the National Weather Service.

Wind gusts 55 to 65 mph possible, especially along the Highway 395 and Interstate 580 corridor north from Susanville to south into Mono County. For wind prone areas, gusts could exceed 70 mph, according to the weather service.

Strong turbulence and wind shear could impact aviation travel as well. Be sure to secure loose outdoor items and if you are driving a large high profile vehicle be sure to check the road restrictions before you leave. Go here for more information about the watch.
