A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of felony eluding and six misdemeanor charges following a pursuit that ended in a field, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

William Kaine Turtle-Nevers also faces misdemeanor charges of obstructing, failure to stop at a stop sign, speeding, reckless driving, hit and run and having a warrant for his arrest out of Douglas County. He was arrested at 11:51 p.m in the 2600 block of South Carson Street. A female passenger with him was also taken into custody on a warrant.

According to the arrest report, a deputy patrolling the area observed a vehicle driving through a stop sign at 10th and Carson Street and then accelerating, driving at a high rate of speed. The deputy paced the vehicle going 75 mph in a 35 mph zone and attempted to stop the vehicle turning on his emergency lights and siren. The vehicle continued to elude the officer, driving through a field next to a business in the 2600 block of South Carson Street.

The vehicle then struck large rocks in the area that tossed the rear of the vehicle into the air, the arrest report states. The vehicle came to rest and the man exited the vehicle and began running. The man ran for approximately 50 yards and then stopped. He was ordered to the ground and taken into custody. The accident caused major damage to the vehicle.

A passenger in the front seat advised she was not hurt. She was checked for warrants which showed she had a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant through East Fork Township. Her bail: $500. Bail for suspect Turtle-Nevers: $15,565.

In other arrests:
— A 43-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 9:24 p.m. in the 1400 block of Monte Rosa for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI, a failure to appear warrant, driving on a suspended registration, driving without a valid license, and no proof of insurance.

According to the arrest report, a deputy made a traffic stop after a check through dispatch found the vehicle the man was driving had a suspended registration.

A records check showed the man had a warrant for his arrest out of Tonopah for failure to appear and that his driver’s license was suspended. He also couldn’t provide proof of insurance.

He was arrested for the warrant. Deputies observed a strong odor of alcohol coming from the man. He submitted to standardized field sobriety tests and had difficulties doing so, unable to maintain balance. He refused a preliminary breath test and wanted an attorney.
Deputies received a search warrant for a blood draw. Bail: $2,758.

— A 51-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday, 2:27 p.m. in the 3800 block of South Carson Street for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI. According to the arrest report, a deputy responded to a parking lot for a report of a vehicle accident.

When the officer arrived he observed one of the driver’s stumbling. While speaking to the woman the officer could smell an odor of alcohol. He asked if she had been drinking and she said she drank two glasses of wine between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. She also admitted to drinking a half bottle of liquid Ny-Quil. The officer asked if she would participate in field sobriety tests and she agreed.

After completing the tests, and finding the woman at fault in the accident, the officer concluded the woman was impaired and she was arrested. Bail: $1,137.

— A 25-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday, 11:51 p.m. in the 2600 block of South Carson Street for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Feb. 9 out of East Fork Township. Bail: $500.

— A 45-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 630 p.m. in the area of North Carson and Adams streets for misdemeanor violation of a suspended sentence. According to the arrest report, the man was intoxicated and stumbling. He submitted to a preliminary breath test with a result of .206. Dispatch advised the man was on Alternative Sentencing with a “no alcohol” clause. Bail: $1,000.

— A 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 5:19 p.m. in the 1000 block of Siskiyou Drive for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant. Bail: $3,000.

— A 26-year-old Sun Valley man was arrested Saturday, 10:10 a.m. in the 1700 block of Russell Way for a misdemeanor warrant, violation of a suspended sentence, issued out of Reno Municipal Court. He’s being held awaiting transport to Reno.
