Families and people of all ages by the dozens gathered in the shade of the Governor’s Mansion backyard to listen to locally produced concert music performed by the Carson City Symphony. The musicians gave outstanding performances to community members during the warm Sunday evening at the mansion’s lawn, on the west side of Carson City.

The 31sts annual Pops Party Concert featured the Carson City Symphony Chorus, the Carson City Symphony and acts performed by vocalist Cindee LeVal. Founded in 1984, the local symphony is open to amateur and volunteer musicians.

Performers in the Carson City Symphony range from elementary school students to seniors. The symphony performs at least five concerts during the year at venues throughout Carson City and plays a couple shows out of town. The symphony plays classical pieces as well as contemporary works.

Proceeds from snack and beverage sales go to the Carson City Symphony Association and Carson High School’s instrumental music programs. The Carson City Symphony Association aims to provide creative and educational opportunities for musicians.

On Sunday July 12, the Carson City Symphony Association is hosting their annual meeting and picnic at 6:00 p.m. Symphony musicians, chamber singers, consort Canzona members, association members, strings in schools students and parents, volunteers and friends are invited to attend the meeting and picnic.

Pops Party Concert is supported, in part, with public funding through the Nevada Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Nevada Commission on Tourism.
