A man was arrested Dec. 17 for suspicion of DUI second offense after being spotted driving at a high rate of speed through a parking lot, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.
At around 9 p.m. a deputy observed the driver of a vehicle going at high rate of speed in the parking lot of 2080 East William Street. The report notes the parking lot had pedestrians leaving stores in the area.
A deputy followed the vehicle when again it took off at a high rate of speed. The deputy conducted a traffic stop on William Street. The vehicle stopped in the middle of the No. 2 lane, then pulled over to a gas station after the deputy activated their siren, the report states.
The deputy made contact with he driver and asked him why he was driving at a high rate of speed. The man said “I don’t know.” The officer observed the man had red, watery eyes and slow, slurred speech. The deputy asked him if he had consumed any alcohol. The man said he had two beers. The officer asked him to step out of the vehicle. The deputy could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person, the report states.
He was asked if he wanted to submit to standardized field sobriety tests. He said no to the tests but agreed to submit to a preliminary breath test, which came back with a .178, the report states.
The man was arrested for suspicion of DUI and taken to jail. He agreed to evidentiary breath tests. There results were .175 and .166. While at jail the deputy reviewed the man’s history, which showed he had been previously arrested and convicted of DUI in 2024. He was booked for DUI second offense. Bail; $2,500.

— A 55-year-old man was arrested Thursday in the area of Sunset and Mountain Streets for suspicion of DUI.
According to the booking report, deputies were dispatched at 6:11 p.m. to the area of Mountain and Tahoe streets for a report of a reckless driver. Upon arrival, the deputy located a red vehicle at Gravestone and Mountain. The vehicle was not running and was unoccupied. The deputy then went north on Mountain Street and found a man chasing a dog. The deputy drove back to the red vehicle and the male returned to the vehicle with the dog.
The man had let the dog walk around as the deputy spoke with him. The man had red, watery eyes, slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person as he spoke, the report states.
The deputy asked the man what was going on. The man said that his dog had jumped out of the car and he was trying to find him. The man said he was not OK to drive and felt that he should stop. The deputy asked him if he felt OK and the man said that he was not OK to drive, the report states.
The deputy asked if he would submit to field sobriety tests. The man said he would. The deputy started the field sobriety tests. During the tests, the man kept saying that he had been drinking too much, according to the report.
The man showed signs of impairment on the tests, nearly falling over several times on the one leg stand portion. Based on the outcome of the field sobriety tests, he was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI. The reporting party confirmed they had saw the man driving, and leaving his car to chase the dog.
The man agreed to an evidentiary blood draw. Bail: $1,137.
— A 48-year-old man was arrested Dec. 17 for misdemeanor violation of suspended sentence conditions. Deputies responded to the area of North Plaza and East Washington for a possible fight. Deputies met with the man, who stated he was the victim of a battery and did not want to press charges. He further advised that he was on Department of Alternative Sentencing supervision. A deputy could smell alcohol on the man’s breath. He provided a preliminary breath test of .096. DAS advised they wanted him arrested for violation of conditions. Bail: $1,000 cash.
— A Redwood Valley man was arrested Dec. 17 for suspicion of possession of more than 25 ounces of marijuana, a felony offense, and misdemeanor no brake lights and open container.
According to the booking report, at 10:25 a.m. a deputy was traveling northbound on Emerson Drive approaching Arrowhead and noticed a vehicle make a U-turn at the intersection, nearly colliding with another vehicle.
The deputy noticed the vehicle approached a red traffic light at College Parkway where it slowed to a complete stop but the brake light did not activate.
The deputy initiated a traffic stop and informed the driver the reason for the stop. During contact with the man, the deputy noticed he had droopy, glossy eyes and there was a strong odor of unburned marijuana emanating from within the vehicle.
The deputy also noticed several small zip-lock baggies scattered throughout the vehicle’s center console as well as a glass pipe with burnt marks on the bowl area. The deputy asked for the man’s driver’s license. He advised he did not have his license on him and showed the deputy his insurance and vehicle registration.
A K9 did a free-air sniff of the vehicle, where the dog alerted positive for narcotics. There was a probable cause search due to the circumstances. Deputies located three open 24-ounce Twisted Tea cans within arm’s reach of where the man had been sitting, and a 27-gallon tote was located in the trunk. Deputies located two plastic 55-gallon bags with marijuana inside. The man was advised of what was found. He said he was aware the marijuana was there and that he only intended it for personal use. The marijuana weighed 6.9 pounds. He was arrested for felony possession of marijuana more than 25 ounces and the misdemeanor offenses of no brake lights and open container. Bail: $2,500.
— A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Dec. 17 for a misdemeanor outside agency warrant out of East Fork Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.
— A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested Dec. 18, 1:12 a.m. for two misdemeanor contempt of court warrants issued Dec. 12 and Dec. 16 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $6,000 cash.
