On Friday, Dec. 3, Bethlehem Lutheran School in Carson City hosted its annual Spelling Bee. Students in grades 1-8 competed in three different age-leveled spelling bees. In the first bee, 2nd grader Jay Chung placed first. In the 3rd-5th grade bee, 5th grader Nicholas Theiss came out victorious. This qualifies Nicholas for the City Bee, which will be held in January.
In the 6th-8th grade bee, we have three grade level winners, all who qualify for the city Bee. in 6th grade, the winner was Logan Garrett. The 7th grade winner was Chase Tack, and the 8th grade winner was Madeline Lyons. The three winners went on to compete against each other for school champion and the winner was Madeline Lyons, with the winning word “morbidity.”
