Judge Kristin Luis today announced her bid for re-election to the First Judicial District Court, reaffirming a commitment to delivering fair, impartial and accessible justice for the residents of Carson City.

Judge Luis has served in every court in Carson City, giving her a comprehensive understanding of the law and the local judicial system. She was appointed to Juvenile Court in 2010, where she served four years, elected to the Justice/Municipal Court in 2019, serving five years and appointed to the District Court by Governor Lombardo in December 2023, and subsequently elected to the position where she now serves as the Senior District Judge.

“I’ve had the privilege of working in every corner of Carson City’s court system and gained experience in all types of cases,” Judge Luis said. “I have a unique understanding of the processes and procedures, a working knowledge of the law, and how people’s cases often overlap across different courts. This broad judicial experience allows me to make informed, thoughtful decisions with the full context of each case in mind.”

As a Judge, she prioritizes public safety and has worked diligently to improve court policies that ensure higher quality representation, procedural fairness, and access to justice. She believes fairness requires knowing and applying the law equally and impartially in each case and showing dignity and respect to litigants throughout their interaction with the legal system.

“It has been an honor to serve this community,” Judge Luis added. “My priority is, and always will be, ensuring fairness, consistency, and integrity in every proceeding. I am running for re-election so I can continue this work and maintain the trust Carson City has placed in its court system.”
