SYNERGY® HomeCare, the nation’s fastest-growing home care franchise, an Entrepreneur 500 ranked enterprise and a Top 50 Franchise according to Franchise Business Review, has announced its first Nevada-based franchise located in Reno, SYNERGY HomeCare of South Reno

The company is led by Nathan and Amanda Starr. The couple have years of leadership experience in the technology and finance industries, as well as a deep-rooted family history of community service.

Located at 4600 Kietzke Lane Suite M243 in Reno, the company assists residents of Reno proper, as well as Carson City, Incline Village, Spanish Springs, Sparks, Verdi, Virginia City and Washoe Valley with a wide variety of non-medical in-home care services, from companion care to personal care and respite care.

The Starrs saw a growing need for these services, particularly among Baby Boomers. U.S. Census statistics show that 10,000 Baby Boomers are turning 65 every day and that by 2030, there will be more than 70 million people over 65. Projections also show that Nevada’s 65 and older population is expected to increase by over 260% from 2000 to 2030. According to the AARP, over 90% of this demographic reports wanting to remain in their own homes for as long as possible.

The Starrs were led to the home care industry by Nathan’s late mother, who exemplified the importance of service and compassion. His mother, who recently passed from cancer, was known throughout her community for her local acts of kindness and care, which ultimately inspired Nathan and Amanda to continue her legacy by opening a home care business of their own.

Both Nathan and Amanda are well-equipped to take on the mantle of business ownership. Amanda is already a successful entrepreneur, as she owns and operates a bookkeeping firm with the knowledge she gained by working as the former Director of Operations and Finances for a financial advisor. Nathan complements Amanda’s entrepreneurial spirit with his 18 years of sales and management experience at the executive level within the technology space.

“While neither of us ever had professional caregiving experience before now, Amanda and I both come from families who emphasized the importance of doing good for others,” said Nathan. “When we met with the folks at SYNERGY HomeCare about the prospect of starting our business, their values felt like an extension of the ones that we grew up with in our family. The SYNERGY HomeCare system is based on providing a feeling of warmth in every interaction, and that’s exactly why we were drawn to this industry.”

The Starr family is already deeply involved in the local Reno community. Growing up, Nathan’s family regularly partnered with schools and other family friends to provide less fortunate children in the community with gifts during the holiday season. Nathan and Amanda have continued this tradition and have supplied nearly 50 children with toys and clothing every year. Now as the owners of a home care agency, the Starrs hope to extend their services to an even broader part of the Reno population.

“Opening this business is a way for us to honor Nathan’s mother, as well as for us to provide services that can truly change people’s lives,” said Amanda. “We have a genuine commitment to building meaningful relationships with those we serve, and we promise to do everything in our power to deliver personalized care grounded in respect, trust and dignity. We understand that entrusting someone with the care of a loved one is a deeply personal decision, and we’re here to prove that your trust is well-placed.”
