UPDATE FRIDAY, 2:49PM: Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Duncan Dauber said Thursday night’s fatal pedestrian crash involving a 61-year-old Carson City woman remains under investigation.

The licensed driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee in the accident, a female in her 20s from Carson City, is not being investigated for impairment, said Dauber.

The preliminary investigation shows the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Robinson Street making a left hand turn to go north on Stewart when she struck the pedestrian who was outside the crosswalk on the northbound side. The pedestrian was crossing the street from east to west, said Dauber.

The name of deceased has not been released pending notification of family members.

UPDATE 6:38PM: A 61-year-old woman died near the crosswalk at Stewart and Robinson streets early Thursday night. Witnesses have told Nevada Highway Patrol investigators that the woman wasn’t in the crosswalk at the time of the accident.

UPDATE 6:18PM: Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong has confirmed that a 61-year-old female has died from injuries after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Stewart and Robinson streets Thursday night.
The woman was struck while allegedly walking in a marked crosswalk, said Carson City Sheriff’s Sgt. Scott McDaniel. The vehicle involved was a Jeep Cherokee. Nevada Highway Patrol will be handling the investigation.

UPDATE 5:55PM: The Carson City coroner has been called to the scene.

Carson City emergency crews were called Thursday night to a vehicle crash involving an elderly pedestrian at Stewart and Robinson streets.

The crash was reported at around 5:40 p.m. The female pedestrian was unconscious at the time a Carson City Sheriff’s Office sergeant arrived on scene. Care Flight has been called.

Robinson and Stewart streets are closed. Motorists should avoid the area as emergency crews are responding. Nevada Highway Patrol is also responding.
