This year, the Nevada Day Poster — which Nevada Day also chose as the cover of the Nevada Day Parade Guide — is a work of collaboration.
Lyon County student Xiomara Majarucon’s artwork was selected as the winner of the 2026 Nevada Day Art Contest for her interpretation of the parade’s theme of “Pumpkins, Pioneers and Tall Tales.”
Featured in Majarucon’s piece is famed Walker Lake monster Cecil the Sea Serpent, a covered wagon piloted by pioneers, and a field of pumpkins.
Her artwork was incorporated into the poster created by Nevada Day Executive Director Chantell Peck, which features Mark Twain, and an artistic interpretation of the Capitol.
Did you know this year the theme for the Nevada Day Parade is Pumpkins, Pioneers and Tale Tales?
As we gear up to the Day of Days, we’ll be sharing some of the stories that will be appearing in the official Nevada Day Magazine, which will be handed out for free along the parade route day of!
As a reminder, because Nevada Day falls on its true birthday this year (October 31), Trick-or-Treating will be held Friday, October 30 in Carson City.
