As part of Carson City’s William Street Project, crews will be completing major underground utility improvements over the next two weeks. Please plan ahead for delays and detours in this area.

Week of Oct. 20

Full closure Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for new waterline installation.

During non-working hours, one lane in each direction (North/South) will reopen.

East/West travel will remain closed 24 hours a day.

Week of Oct. 27
Full closure begins Sunday evening, Oct. 26 at 6 p.m., continuing 24 hours/day through Thursday afternoon (Oct. 30).

Work includes new sewer and water line installation and traffic signal underground infrastructure.

Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of Oct. 20-26, 2025. Road closures are expected at the following locations due to road/utility work:

The Carson Street/William Street intersection will be closed to traffic from Monday – Friday, 7:00 am to 5:30 pm.

Stewart Street at William Street will be closed to traffic from Thursday – Friday, 7:00 am to 5:30 pm.

William Street between Carson Street and Stewart Street will be closed to traffic from Monday – Friday, 7:00 am to 5:30 pm.

William Street between Stewart Street and Roop Street will be closed to eastbound traffic from Monday – Tuesday, 7:00 am to 5:30 pm.

Access to Mills Park from the Oxoby Loop will be closed at William Street, from Monday – Friday, 7:00 am to 5:30 pm.

5th Street between Stewart Street and Plaza Street will be closed from October 20, 2025, to October 27, 2025, 8:00 pm to 6:00 am.

7th Street between Stewart Street and Plaza Street will be closed from October 20, 2025, to October 27, 2025, 8:00 pm to 6:00 am.

Curry Street between Robinson Street and Washington Street will be closed to traffic on Friday, from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm for the Nevada State Museum Trunk or Treat event.

Park Street between Curry Street and Carson Street will be closed from Monday – Thursday, 7:00 am to 5:30 pm.

Plaza Street between 5th Street and 7th Street will be closed from October 20, 2025, to October 27, 2025, 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Plaza Street between John Street and Washington Street will be closed from October 20, 2025, to November 7, 2025, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Lane restrictions are expected at the following locations due to road/utility work:

5th Street between Stewart Street and Plaza Street will have lane restrictions October 20, 2025, to October 27, 2025, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.

7th Street between Stewart Street and Plaza Street will have lane restrictions October 20, 2025, to October 27, 2025, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Carson Street between Washington Street and Adams Street will have lane restrictions from Monday – Thursday, 7:00 am to 5:30 pm.

City wide roadway striping will be taking place from Monday – Thursday nightly, 6:00 pm to 7:00 am. Please use caution when approaching work vehicles and personnel.

College Parkway near the intersection of Otha Street will have reduced lanes, both directions, from October 6, 2025, to October 24, 2025, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Curry Street between 4th Street and 5th Street will have shoulder closures from Tuesday – Thursday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Gardner Lane will have lane restrictions from Tuesday – Thursday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.

I-580 between North Carson Street, exit 8, and South Eastlake Boulevard, exit 10, will have lane restrictions in both directions from Wednesday – Thursday, 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Drivers should anticipate substantial travel delays and should leave with additional travel time.

I-580 between Old U.S. 395A, exit 16, and Mt Rose Highway, exit 24, will have lane restrictions in both directions from Monday – Tuesday, 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Drivers should anticipate substantial travel delays and should leave with additional travel time.

Merrimac Way will have lane restrictions from Tuesday – Thursday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Plaza Street between 5th Street and 7th Street will have lane restrictions October 20, 2025, to October 27, 2025, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Roop Street between Washington Street and John Street will have lane restrictions and shifts from Monday – Friday, 7:00 am to 5:30 pm.

Stewart Street between 5th Street and 8th Street will have lane restrictions October 20, 2025, to October 27, 2025, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Stewart Street between 5th Street and 8th Street will have reduced lanes nightly from October 20, 2025, to October 27, 2025, 8:00 pm to 6:00 am.

William Street between Stewart Street and Saliman Road will have restricted lanes from Monday – Friday, 7:00 am to 5:30 pm.
