UPDATE 830PM: The Little Valley Fire is now 90 percent contained. Due to the break in the weather today, a helicopter mission was able to map the burned area and current acreage was readjusted to 2,291 acres.

On Monday partnership agencies began implementing the community reentry plan into the fire affected area. Residents whose homes are uninhabitable were escorted into the restricted area. All residents that are in the exclusion area will be allowed to return starting at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Residents are required to enter from the south end of Franktown Road and must show identification.

Old US 395A is open; however Franktown Road remains closed below 6190 Franktown Road.

Drenching rain has proved to be helpful for firefighters on the Little Valley Fire in Washoe Valley, with 55 percent containment as of Monday morning, according to Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center. Mandatory evacuation is expected to be lifted by Wednesday if conditions allow.

Over the last 24 hours, 2.75 inches of rain was received over the 3,400-acre fire affected area. Winds are expected to be light Monday 8-10 mph with gusts to 15 mph, according to SFIDC. A high pressure system is moving into the area with a warming trend and temperatures in the 70s by the end of the week.

Firefighter and public safety remain to be the primary concern. On Monday, Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District, Washoe County, Great Basin Incident Management Team, Red Cross, and the Nevada National Guard will begin implementing the community reentry plan into the fire affected area.

Sierra Front reports 23 homes and 17 outbuildings were destroyed in the fire. There are 662 firefighters who remain at the fire site as of Monday morning representing 83 engines, 25 hand crews and two helicopters. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and 500 homes remain threatened. There have been four injuries.

Residents whose homes are uninhabitable will be escorted into the restricted area Monday as conditions allow. Tuesday, all residents that were in the restricted area are expected to be allowed to return, conditions permitting.

Firefighters will focus on mopping-up hot spots around structures, addressing hazard trees and smoldering stumps. Fire crews will continue to secure the fire perimeter and addressing any localized flooding along roads and ditches.

All flood watches have been lifted.

Evacuations: Multiple structures are still threatened until 100% containment has been achieved. The evacuation centers have been deactivated. Red Cross will be available Monday rom 9am to 4pm to assist residents with shelter, medication, medical accessories and supplies, they can be contacted at 775-954-1194.
