According to the Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department, the Fulstone Wetlands received a helping hand from the Boys & Girls Club by assisting in planting over 40 milkweed plants throughout the important open space ecosystem.

“Milkweed is an important host plant to many pollinators, and especially to the monarch butterfly,” a spokesperson said. “Monarch butterflies only lay their eggs on milkweed plants because milkweed is the only food the caterpillars will eat.”
