A Carson City man (30) and a teenager (18) were arrested in the 1700 block of N. Carson Street Monday evening after the man allegedly tried to fight ‘everyone’ in sight, and was finally granted his wish after punching the teen in the face for defending his father.

The 30-year-old faces three counts of battery, one count of disorderly conduct, and one count of “affray.”

The 18-year-old faces one count of “affray.”

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the area just before 7 p.m. on a report of a large fight. Dispatch advised there was a subject “with no shirt on going around and trying to start fights with people.”

As deputies were on the scene gathering additional information, they said they noticed a man with no shirt on “running across the parking lot.”

The man, later identified as the 30-year-old, was being chased by another individual, later identified as the 18-year-old.

The shirtless 30-year-old attempted to run up the stairs and fell, and the 18-year-old jumped on top of the 30-year-old and started to punch him.

At this point, “another man and several female subjects” came around the corner and got onto the stairs. The 30-year-old and the 18-year-old were still fighting, and all the others were attempting to break up the fight, according to the arrest report.

Deputies approached and the individuals attempting to break up the fight “complied,” according to the arrest report, but the two fighting continued.

The reporting deputy said they pointed their taser at them and told them they would “use force if they did not comply.”

Eventually, both subjects came down from the stairs and were detained in handcuffs.

Deputies walked the 30-year-old to a patrol vehicle, who identified himself and stated he’d been drinking. Some information from the report has been redacted, but it appears he had some issue with another individual and was attempting to speak with them about it. He said while speaking with them, the 18-year-old came between them and told them to leave.

The 30-year-old told deputies the 18-year-old told him to “back up or he was going to kill him.” He then admitted to punching the teen in the face.

He said the 18-year-old then chased him across the parking lot and onto the stairs.

The teen told deputies he was just relaxing with his family when the 30-year-old man came over and started to harass his girlfriend. He said the man would not leave them alone, and when his father answered the door, “it seemed like [the man] was going to try and fight him.”

The teen told deputies he got between the man and his father, and the man “went to punch [the teen]” so he moved out of the way. He said he tried to get the man to leave, but the man ended up hitting the teen in the face.

The teen said he was defending himself and chased the man down, and hit him until law enforcement broke up the fight. He told deputies he doesn’t know the man and had never had contact with him prior to that day.

Deputies spoke with another individual on scene who had a bloody nose and dried blood on his lips. He told deputies that the 30-year-old always tries to fight him “all night long,” and that they don’t get along, but when the 30-year-old drinks, he always wants to fight him.

He said he told the 30-year-old he did not want to fight and kept walking away. He said while he was smoking a cigarette, the 30-year-old came over to him and punched him in the face. He said his girlfriend got between them, and as a result she was also punched by the 30-year-old as well.

He said they both went inside, and a short time later, they heard a loud commotion on the stairs and went to look out his door where he saw the large fight on the stairs taking place, but said he was not a part of it at all.

Both he and his girlfriend said they wanted to press charges against the 30-year-old for the battery.

Several people on scene told deputies that the 30-year-old had been playing loud music, starting altercations “with everyone” and kept trying to fight people.

The 30-year-old was transferred to the hospital for injuries related to the fight, but the teen refused medical attention. He was taken into custody and booked on the charge of “affray.”

After being discharged from the hospital, the 30-year-old was transported to the jail for three counts of battery, disorderly conduct, and affray.

  • Bail for the teen: $1,137
  • Bail for the 30-year-old: $4,790
