A 37-year-old woman was arrested early Wednesday for two counts possession of a controlled substance, possession without a prescription and paraphernalia, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.

At around 11:20 p.m. a deputy observed a vehicle going westbound on College Parkway failing to maintain lanes. The vehicle was in the number two travel lane, failing to maintain lanes by going over the solid white outside shoulder multiple times, the report states.

The deputy initiated a traffic stop and spoke to the driver, the sole occupant, and explained the reason for the stop. The deputy asked for her driver’s license, registration and insurance. She stated she did not have a driver’s license and it was suspended. She did provide the deputy with current registration and proof of insurance.

During this time the deputy observed multiple purses and bags throughout the vehicle and a large butane can in the backseat. Based on the deputy’s training and experience, the butane cans are used to refill torch lighters, which are associated with drug use, the report states.

The deputy requested a K9 deputy to respond. The deputy asked the woman to step out of the vehicle and speak with them at their patrol vehicle. She complied and the deputy began to run the woman’s name for wants and warrants through dispatch.

Shortly after, the K9 deputy arrived on scene. The K9 alerted positive on the vehicle. The deputy informed the woman of the positive alert. The woman began telling the deputy some bags in the vehicle were not hers. The deputy read her Miranda rights, which she understood and agreed to speak. She advised a family member uses narcotics and left a pink bag inside the vehicle, the report states.

Deputies searched the vehicle and located a small ziplock with a glass pipe, with burn marks and a crystal substance and small clear bag containing suspected methamphetamine, the report states.

The deputy informed the woman of what was located. She denied ownership. The deputy informed her the pipe and suspected meth were located inside a black purse, where the deputy located her wallet and identifying documents. The deputy did not locate any further contraband inside the vehicle, the report states.

The woman was arrested. During the search incident to arrest she was placed into the rear seat of the patrol vehicle. Deputies took photos of the pipe, methamphetamine and location found, as well as the wallet and debit card, which were located inside the purse, the report states.

Just after midnight she was taken to jail. Deputies located a white pill bottle inside the woman’s purse. The bottle was labeled Buprenophrone and Naloxone, a prescription only, schedule III narcotic. The prescription label was peeled off. The deputy asked her why she had the pills and she stated she didn’t know what it was. She was released to jail staff and booked for possession of a controlled substance, (4.5 grams of meth) possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription and drug paraphernalia. Bail: $3,000.
