With the end of eviction moratoriums in Nevada, evictions have increased in Carson City dramatically from 2020; however, compared with 2019, prior to the moratoriums, the number of evictions is actually lower than average, according to Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.
In June, 101 Carson City residents were evicted, whether in 30-day evictions, 7-day evictions, or lockouts; in May, there were 54 total evictions.
For 30-day evictions, said Furlong, there have been 22 in June, which was up from 16 in May, a 38 percent increase. The year-to-date for 30-day evictions is up 87 percent compared with 2020, but is down 8 percent from 2019.
For 7-day evictions, there were 55 in June, up from 28 in May, a 96 percent increase. The year-to-date for 7-day evictions is up 78 percent compared with 2020, but down 31 percent compared with 2019.
For Lockouts, there were 24 in June, up from 10 in May, a 140 percent increase. The year-to-date for lockouts is up 158 percent compared with 2020, but down 8 percent from 2019.
