Early Tuesday morning, a 36-year-old Carson City woman was arrested in the area of Spooner Junction on four counts of possession of a controlled substance, sales of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Samantha Vogel was arrested after deputies were patrolling in the area of South Carson Street just before 2:30 a.m.

According to the arrest report, they observed a vehicle driving without registration and no moving permit in the front window.

They initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, identified as Vogel. The reporting deputy stated she “appeared nervous.”

The reporting deputy stated they requested a K9 Unit to respond due to her “odd behavior.”

Deputy K9 Dakota responded to the scene and provided a free air sniff of the vehicle, resulting in a positive alert.

The deputies searched the vehicle and located multiple burnt tinfoil pieces with narcotic residue, toothed straws, multiple empty small clear baggies, and a scale with residue on it. The scale was located under the radio compartment near the floorboard and “appeared as if it was placed there in an attempt to conceal it.”

Deputies also located what appeared to be a hair scrunchie near the scale, but the scrunchie had hard objects concealed within it, according to the report.

Located inside of the scrunchie, deputies reported to find methamphetamine, heroin, fentanyl pills, and used tin foil with a weighable amount of heroin on it.

She was placed under arrest, and her vehicle was secured and towed.

She was released to jail staff without incident.

Bail: $10,000

Carson City man arrested for second DUI

A 33-year-old Carson City man was arrested for second DUI just after midnight Tuesday morning in the 1400 block of Airport Road.

According to the arrest report, deputies were patrolling in the area when they witnessed a vehicle traveling eastbound on Menlo Drive and stop over the white limit line at the stop sign.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop and upon speaking with the driver, noted there was a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from inside the vehicle. The man’s eyes were watery and bloodshot, and his speech was slurred, according to the report.

When the deputy asked if the man had been drinking, he said, “yes, no,” and later admitted to drinking “a couple of beers” prior to driving.

Deputies asked him to exit the vehicle, and noted he was “unsteady on his feet … and was wearing slippers for footwear. [He] appeared disheveled due to consuming alcohol.”

He agreed to participate in field sobriety tests, and showed multiple clues of impairment. He then provided a PBT which resulted in a .229% BrAC.

He was taken into custody and released to the jail staff without incident.

Bail: $2,500
