UPDATE 4:38PM: At least two people were injured in two crashes involving six vehicles Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Highway 50 East and Lompa Lane. One person was taken by Care Flight to Renown Medical Center in Reno. The second person was taken by ambulance. Their conditions are unknown at this time.
The cause of the crash is under investigation and traffic is being diverted. Westbound Highway 50 continues to be re-routed at Airport Road, said Carson City sheriff’s Sgt. Scott McDaniel.

Vehicle crashes in Carson City have soared by 20 percent thus far in 2015 as compared to crashes from January to July 2014, said McDaniel. Driver inattentiveness, speeding and cell phone use are listed as factors to the increase in crashes. Go here for the story.
