With no official date announced yet for opening up the final section of the Interstate 580 bypass through Carson City, the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) has said it hopes to have traffic flowing the entire length of the freeway next week.

“Our plan is to open to South Carson Street on Aug. 2, while keeping the south side of Fairview to/from the new section of freeway closed,” said NDOT Senior Project Manager Jeff Lerud. “Then completely open up Fairview on Aug. 3.”

This means the freeway’s terminus at the junction of South Carson Street, U.S. Highway 395 South, and U.S. Highway 50 West should be opened first to northbound vehicle traffic as work on the Fairview Drive overpass continues.
