UPDATE: Storey County Fire responded to a commercial fire in Gold Hill Monday evening. Upon arrival crews found heavy fire and began defensive operations. Central Lyon Fire and Carson City Fire responded to assist with suppression and overhaul. No one was injured during the fire and the cause is unknown at this time.

Carson City Fire Department is assisting Storey County Fire Protection District for a structure fire early Monday evening in the 1200 block of American Flats Road, around 1.5 miles south of Gold Hill and Virginia City.
Details of the fire are unclear. However, mutual aid was requested at 5:22 p.m. from nearby fire departments including Carson City Fire Department, which sent a battalion chief and an engine.
