The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) crews will continue work this week on the US-50 project from Stateline to Spooner Summit.

GRINDING

Monday, July 28: 8 p.m. through Friday, August 1, 8 a.m. – US-50 from SR 207 Kingsbury Grade to Round Hill Pines with north and southbound lane reductions for “bump grinding,” a technique to smooth uneven or irregular pavement surface such as bumps, dips or rough patches that can affect ride quality and safety.

OPEN GRADE PAVING

Sunday, August 3 at 8 p.m. through Friday, August 8 at 8 a.m. from CA/Nevada state line to Round Hill Pines with north and southbound lane reductions to pave all lanes. A thin protective layer of asphalt will be placed to extend the lifespan of the new pavement and enhance its appearance.

BOTH WORK ZONES

No lane reductions are expected on weekends. A minimum of one lane in each direction will stay open at all times. Drivers can anticipate moderate travel delays through the work zone. Speeds will be reduced to 35 mph through work zones. While access to businesses and residences will be continuously maintained in most areas, certain side streets and driveways will temporarily be impacted as roadway excavation takes place in the immediate area. Steel plates and earthwork will then be used after excavation to reestablish side street access.

NOISE IMPACTS DURING PAVING

Residents along US-50 can expect to hear some work noise in the area during the day and at night while paving.

NDOT is taking several precautions to minimize the noise level with select equipment and tools not to exceed 70dBA, or comparable to a lawn mower from 100 feet.
