Carson City, Nev. (July 22, 2025) — Twenty-one students and two advisors from Carson High’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) team were recognized earlier this month at the National Business Leadership Conference (NBLC) in Anaheim, Calif.
The Nevada FBLA Management Team arranged a private meeting between FBLA President and CEO Jennifer Woods and the Carson High delegation to celebrate the release of Carson High’s first annual Entrepreneurs in Action magazine, which was created in partnership with Carson Now.
During the meeting, CHS students Brianna Nunez, Kennedy Nolan and Maliyah Roque delivered a slide show presentation to Woods, showcasing the scope and impact of the student-led publication.
Eighteen of the 21 students who attended nationals contributed to the project as writers, editors, marketers or sales team members.

Woods praised the students’ work and noted that the magazine was discussed at the annual FBLA board meeting as a premier example of what CTE projects can and should be. She commended the students and praised the chapter for its innovation, professionalism and community impact.
Additionally, Carson High’s longtime FBLA advisor, Angila Golik, CHS Government teacher, received national recognition at the conference’s Awards of Excellence Ceremony, where she was inducted into the FBLA National Hall of Fame. She was one of only 12 advisors nationwide to earn the honor this year. Golik is retiring as advisor after 14 years leading the CHS chapter. The program will continue under the leadership of Cody Downing, CHS Business teacher, and Areli Sanabria, CHS English Learner teacher.
Beyond competitions and leadership workshops, students also had the chance to unwind and socialize at Disneyland, enjoying some well-earned fun after a week of learning and achievement.
The following students earned the opportunity to attend the national conference by placing in the top four at the Nevada State Business Leadership Conference this past March, advancing to represent Carson High and the state of Nevada on the national stage. Those include Jacob Alvarez, Julia Aquino, Sadie Brown, Bella Chavez, Elizabeth Dao, Claire Dillon, Ivy Dillon, An Duong, David Hurst, Hannah Ingram, Khloe Kellum, Thomas Lance, McKenzie Merrell, Kennedy Nolan, Nasia Perkins, Charlie Richetta, Brianna Rodriguez-Nunez, Alexis Ropp, Maliyah Roque-Ortega, Allison Shine and Nicholas Torres.
