A 93-year-old Lake Tahoe man died following a single vehicle accident Monday on Kingsbury Grade near Katherine Drive in Stateline, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol were dispatched the crash at 2:44 p.m. The preliminary collision investigation details indicate that a white 2008 Ford Ranger pickup driven by the elderly Zephyr Cove man was traveling westbound on Kingsbury Grade, State Route 20. For unknown reasons, the pickup drifted off the right side roadway edge through a dirt right of way area and struck a tree with the pickup’s front.

The driver was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The driver was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision and impairment does not appear to be a contributing factor. The driver’s name is being withheld until his next of kin has been notified.

SR207 remained open in both directions while the crash scene was being investigated. This area of SR207 is two lanes in each direction with a no passing double yellow line separating the travel lanes. The speed limit is 35 mph.
